We’ve known for a while now that DC Animation were planning to release Gotham By Gaslight as their next animated outing, but now from SDCC we have three more additions to the future line-up.
So, here’s the details:
Gotham By Gaslight
An adaptation of the popular 1989 tale that introduced us to a Victorian Era Dark Knight who was in pursuit of Jack the Ripper. Written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Mike Mignola of Hellboy fame, it was the first Elseworlds story.
Because the book is pretty short, expect the movie to expand the story somewhat.
Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay
The first Suicide Squad movie set within the DC Universe Original Movies’ shared continuity. (Batman: Assault on Arkham, the 2014 movie that also featured the Suicide Squad was set within the Arkham video game continuity.) Hell to Pay will feature an original story and what’s promised to be an amazing, though sadly not-yet-revealed, voice cast.
The Death of Superman
This will be out before the end of 2018 and will be the first of a two-part story. The story is obviously about the death of the man of steel at the hands of Doomsday and will be the second time it’s been adapted in the animated universe with Superman: Doomsday great condensing the whole story.
This version will be a lot more faithful to the original comics.
Reign of the Superman
In early 2019 we’ll get the second part of the story started in The Death of Superman and will see the imitation Supermen – Steel, Cyborg Superman, Superboy and the Last Son of Krypton – who appear to fill the void left by the death of the rap Superman.
So there you have it, a pretty fun line-up of stories exploring the DC universe.
Which ones will you be getting excited for?
