James Cameron reveals new Terminator movie title, talks Sarah Connor and Arnie is a new Terminator…

February 11th, 2019 by Marc Comments

So, in case you’ve been living on mars for the last while, you may have heard there’s a new Terminator movie in the works and, while the franchise has never come close to the first two movies in the following three instalments, we’re excited for this one.

Why?

Well, it’s being prodcued by James Cameron, the man behind the first two movies’ writing and direction and it will see the return of not just Arnold Schwarzenegger but also Linda Hamilton, who hasn’t been in the franchise since Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

On top of that, it’s hoped this will kick off a new trilogy of movies and it’s being directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller, so the stars are certainly aligned for this movie.

Hopefully.

But, as fate would have it, Cameron is currently doing the press tour for Alita: Battle Angel (which he wrote) and, obviously, people are asking him about his return to the Terminator franchise.

“We’re calling it, Terminator: Dark Fate. At least that’s our working title right now,” Cameron says of the title.

But it seems it’s not just the movie’s name that is both familiar AND different as Schwarzenegger and Hamilton will be different too.

On Hamilton’s iconic Sarah Connor, Cameron had this to say: “It’s [the story so far] hardened her, but in a way that made her much stronger.

“Maybe less likable, but stronger. And ultimately, she becomes a really important character in passing the baton to the new characters that come in. It’s a very female-centric film, which I’m glad Tim embraced those themes.”

But what of our older but still awesome Terminator?

“Arnold’s back and he’s bad,” says Cameron.

“He’s a different Terminator than you’ve ever seen before, I mean literally he’s a different chassis number but he’s also a very different guy than you’ve seen before.”

A battle weary Sarah and a totally new Terminator?

Well, we’re certainly all in…

Are you? Let us know.
